Gotta Pay to Play: How to step up your game on Google

Are you tired of not showing up on Google? 91% of users do not click to the second page of the Google results page. That means that if you’re not first, you’re last. Or in this case “lost”.

Even if your search engine optimization (SEO) is up to par your business can still be outranked on Google by businesses who are paying to be at the top of the list.

Good news, you can be there too! Even ahead of them. It just takes a little bit of an investment. Google sells ads to bring more people to your site. These are called Google Adwords, also known as search engine marketing or SEM.

Google Adwords are purchased on a pay per click basis. You set up the words that are relevant to your business and people searching for what your business does/sells get directed to your site. When a user types in a keyword or phrase on your list of terms your ad will be served sending the user directly to your site when they click on your ad!

The best part, you only pay for the people who actually use your ad, not the ones who it is served to. Adwords can be set on a radius target, certain days of the week, day by day or month by month basis!

Taking it a step further… Do you know who your direct competition is? You can purchase their names as your keywords. The result – when users are searching directly for your competition they will receive an ad persuading them to click on your ad instead!
